Trinity’s Present
Today, Trinity’s doors open to blended worship services and a
congregation responding to the needs of newcomers to the community by
returning to its bilingual roots. The church has constructed a
translation booth and recruited volunteers to provide Spanish-speaking
worshippers with simultaneous translation.
Bilingual Bible studies and a sewing group have become regular
parts of the life of Trinity, and this summer the Share program began to
connect cultures and lives.
Trinity has also retained a vibrant prayer life, with many members
committing to pray regularly for Trinity staff, participating in 24-hour
prayer vigils, and offering prayerful support for Trinity’s many youth
and mission programs.
Faced with increasing demand for limited space, the congregation voted
in 2007 to purchase land and begin making plans for a new building which
would optimize the church’s ability to carry out its mission.
Trinity’s Past
In 1919, Trinity opened its doors as a bilingual church. Guided by
prayer, charter members acted in faith and with sacrificial giving to
form a congregation which would offer services in Dutch and in English
to honor the Dutch-language heritage of the region and to meet the needs
of the younger generation.
