10 creative ideas for giving
1. Use coupons. Taking the time and discipline to do this can save $10
to $20 per week. Ten dollars a week for three year is $1,560.
2. Skip a meal a week as a family. Skipping one meal a week at an
average of $20 per family to devote to prayer or fasting is $3,120 over
three years.
3. Give up a habit. For example, an almond latte plus tax each day for
three years is $2,400.
4. Commit your income tax refund check to the Lord over the three years.
5. Commit an estimated raise in salary to the Lord over the three years.
6. Put off a discretionary major purchase and redirect the money to the
campaign.
7. Adjust your vacations. Take a three day vacation instead of a seven
day vacation. This can save $1,000 to $2,000.
8. Make a commitment to drink only water at a restaurant. You could save
over $5 per week. That’s $780 just for drinking water!
9. Cut down to basic cable instead of regular cable, and eliminate
premium channels.
10. If you will be paying off a loan in the next year, commit to
continue to pay the bill by redirecting the money to the campaign. A
$100 payment per month over three years is $3,600.

Question & Answer Over & Above

The Campaign
Open Doors was a four-week stewardship campaign designed to help Trinity's members and friends seek God's guidance in Kingdom giving with particular emphasis on giving for a new facility. The campaign, including a 24/7 prayer week during the first week in November, concluded on November 16, 2008 at the Bultman Center on the campus of Northwestern College. During the course of the campaign, the congregation was asked to consider carefully and prayerfully what financial commitment God desires for them to make and will provide for them to give. At the closing celebration service on November 16, they had an opportunity to make a three-year commitment, pledging an amount, frequency (weekly, monthly, annually, or one-time), and type of donation that best fits your own financial situation. Suggestions for the decision process as well as a sample of the commitment card can be found on the How to Make a Pledge webpage.
We are asking the congregation to do three things during the campaign:
First,
enter into conversation with God and others about how the Lord is
leading you to participate in Open Doors.
Second, as part of that conversation, ask God to open doors of challenge
to you – doors that will stretch you in financial commitment and doors
that will stretch you for new ministry steps.
Third,
whatever doors the Lord opens for you, walk through them with joy.
